I have a 78 that is getting no power to the starter. The neutral safety switch seems ok (even though I am not savy with a multimeter) and heres some surrouding issues. I took out the stock alarm system last fall and contacted the company who built it. I was told the white starter kill wire was all I needed to fuse together and the rest could go. The car ran fine for a few days and died. Battery was bad so I let it go till this spring. New battery = nothing. So I had the starter and alt tested. Starter was bad and replaced that. Now the car still gets no power to the starter and when I hook up the battery with no keys in the left window motor clicks, then the right, then the left power lock, then the right and repeats! SO, before I pay the sweet 65$ an hour trouble shooting fee from a pro I figured I'd run it through the all faithful forum. Thanks ahead of time for any help.
yea I saw this one when you posted the first time.
There are a few things you can do, it sounds like maybe you have a short somewhere making a CB pop and reset. Pull all the fuses and then connect the battery. Make sure all the battery cable connections are in fact good, clean mechanical and electrical connections.
Make a test light from a jumper wire and a brake light bulb, start checking for power where is supposed to be with the light.
