I took this picture of a 67 convertible at last spring Corvette Expo. This car even has the ABS hooked up on it. Very nice execution on the car. Nice and clean install. It made me want to do the install even more when I saw this car.
Thank You for spreading the disease to me . The plan is to order a new LS2 from GM as well as the 4L60E from TCI to replace my ZZZ motor in my '77. Was going to wait, but this thread has me motivated.
Regarding the ABS brakes referred to in the picture, was that a factory unit modified or an aftermarket system?

I am thinking it was a factory unit. I really have no idea what it was as I don't recall anyone ever making the conversion before seeing it in this car.

I pulled out all of the vacuum lines but still need to clean up wiring and then do a good cleaning of all of the surfaces. It's amazing how dirty things get when you only drive the car 3 times a year.
That guy does some nice work. Its great seeing your own car "on the pages in between." Andy Bolig shot mine last year at the Cruise In. Maybe next year we could all have our LS cars there and outnumber the BB guys.

Any recommendations as to which company does decent work at reasonable prices?
I have been searching 243 heads and it seems around $500 is about average for a set. If a set of 241's can be shipped both ways and worked for near that it might be worth it.
By the time you ship both ways and pay for the porting, you are better off buying new or used heads. Take a look in the classifieds here in the C5 & C6 forums and also look in the classifieds at ls1tech.com. New patriot ported LS6 heads are only around $1000 so you should be able to find a slightly used set for less than that. Seems the F-body guys are always swapping heads and there are always deals to be had.
Jeff, I just read everything on your conversion site. Very good information available. In summary,
- one would need to have adapter plates for engine mounts
- 90 fittings for WP and heater core
- some sort of air intake on throttle body
Where did you guys end up putting the computer?
How much work is it to run return fuel lines?
Are you using stock tank?
Where is the fuel pump mounted?
Did you need larger gas lines?
My PCM is on the back side of the passenger's inner fender.
I used the stock tank and ran one line to an external pump (Walbro GSL392). Single line from pump to 1999 Corvette fuel pressure regulator/ filter. Single line form regulator back to the vent fitting near the top of the tank on the passenger's side. Single line from regulator outlet to the fuel rail. Pump and regulator are mounted on the passenger's frame rail under the tank.
Pardon the mess in the picture, its a little cleaner under there now.
One of our Forum members sells the mounts or Jegs. You can do a search and get all the info there.
The WP comes 90 and is changed to straight. Change to 90's on the heater ports.
TOTOP73 has a good example of a simple intake. I think the photo's are on this thread.
Under the fender or behind the glove box has been done.
Use a FIL3737 regulator/return. Most guys are using stock tank which has a return.
Fuel pump on the frame rail somewhere.
I'd go 3/8" on the supply.
My build is a little different than most since I have to pass a tough emissions test. I'll be using my tank but I'll be welding in a flange to house the pump/psi sensor/level sender from the donor car. I need the psi sensor for my smog test so I decided to use the pump and sender too. I also have to run the exhaust cat's and 4-Oxygen sensors so I won't be able to install the SS Hookers until after my test.
A good donor car is a 2002 Camaro Z28 or Trans-Am. Get EVERYTHING you can from it. Wiring, air box, drive shaft, shifter, etc...
Good Luck..gp
I received that T-stat housing today, nice piece..Can't wait to install it.
Matt, you bet me again. I was hoping they would shoot my car last year at the Cruise in, but Eddie's was the only C-3 that made it. Once the new paint is on, I'm hoping it will get shot. It funny my father in law told me he made the cover of a mustang magazine again. Sure as crap he shows me a copy and his 64 is on the cover this month. It's an entrance shot at a musting meet in Oklahoma. His other 64 made a solo cover a couple of years ago. Back to the thread.

There is also a guy up in Denver that does it. He did one of my buddies mini cooper head. I'll find out his contact.
Like the guys said, it might be cheaper to buy a set of LS6 or LS2 heads. Like we said earlier, LS2 heads are 243's without sodium valves. Also Escalade heads are LS6 also.

What flywheel is everyone using? I am thinking of using an aluminum one. Is there any special thing to consider when buying. I see some of them weigh as much as 29 lbs. The 29 lbs flywheel says it is zero balanced. The Fidanza is around 17 IIRC. It says nothing about being balanced. ???
What is the stock tooth count on the camaro flywheel? I am guessing 168 since this is what the 29lb wheel says.

Really??? Wow. I have found a low mile Fidanza (1500-2000 mile) with LS6 clutch for around $300. I like that price pretty good and thinking I am going to buy this setup.
