I'm not getting any fuel from my pump. It has power, just not moving enough to send fuel out. When I opened the tank and put 12 volts to the pump there was a pathetic little noise coming from it. I've heard lots of people who changed to an 85 pump for more pressure. Does it help? Do I need to do anything else?
Take the pump out of the tank and test it.Make sure the sock is not plugged up.Be careful getting it through the body its easy to scratch the paint.I have never used the 85 pump but lots of guys swear by them.Make sure the filter on the frame up front is good.
I got it out today and found the sock had split open. Some stuff from the bottom had been sucked into the pump and clogged it shut. So tomorrow after I flush the line I am putting in my new pump, sock and filter. Hopefully I'll have all of its problems fixed and can drive it again. The parts store only had the 82 pump so that's what's going back in.
Aren't old cars fun!

NO STOP!! While your replacing the pump, replace it with an 85 pump, you'll be glad you did and so will your motor. The stock pump in most cases is a POS. Hopefully you can acheve 14psi with that pump.
