Had set aside some time this weekend to get back into the gauge problem. Sure enough, the little ceramic washer was in the incorrect place. After installing the gauge leads correctly the thing actually worked. I am releived. It is just one of those little nagging things. Thanks so much for all the help.

Default temp gauge

Hey condor 7 & DWncchs (or anybody else),

I've been following along with this thread and I'm curious........according to your posted picture of the back of the temp gauge, which posts go where? The red, green and blue painted tabs to which source? 12 volts, ground and the sending unit wire? And the insulator washers! Thanks!

Thanks DWncchs,
I thought I had lost one insulating washer when I dismantled mine. Now I understand one end of the resistor has to be grounded. Is this resistor the same as the one for the fuel gauge ? ie 90 ohms ?
I'm not sure mine is wired correctly as the fuel gauge doesnt work despite a new sender unit. Mine has an insulator under the resisitor and from memory a cermic 'cover" the same as the one on the temp guage.
