I use painters tape for most of that kind of thing, its secure and comes off when I want it to, works good for hose ends and that sort of thing. Inlets like on a HB unit are another matter, usually a blue shop towel and maybe some tape, cheap and easy

Here's a lousy pic of it - it's the cross-shaped thing inside the line.

Do I need a different one for R134a? How does it come out?

You might post a new thread here asking for anyones experiences with these products, I'd like to hear them myself.

I have a pic of the general engine bay, not much to see or different except the Sanden compressor. My system is OOC due to a slow leak, another project scheduled for this winter.
Once I get other projects on the car out of the way I'll probably be getting an aftermarket kit. The '75 was an original AC car but now there's no equipment forward of the piping coming out in the engine compartment. I don't have the knowledge to piece one together from scratch and not all that sure that all the connections still exist on the wiring harness. Like another tech at work says, "I didn't want to learn that today". I'd rather have cookbook directions to follow.

No different but it's also a screen, replace it while you're there, needle nose pliers will get it out.

Retro-fit kits don't replace the orifice, the only thing in the kit is the adapters for the different gauge fittings unique to 134a, and the refrigerant.

I tried pulling it out - it came out about halfway and stuck. Should I give it a better tug?
