1972 engine/starter wiring

I need some good wiring diagrams!!! Just bought a 1972 4spd coupe this weekend! Had some problems with the battery and such as the old owner was putting in a new battery he switched the cables... some smoke came out from under the passenger side (starter area) and we disconnected the battery. Once outside and inspecting the wiring close to the starter is burnt up. I plan on replacing the engine/ front wiring harness for sure and ground wiring too at the battery. Does anyone have any better diagrams or close up pics of removal and replacement of the front wirinng harness??? Any help is greatly appreciated... If you are curious check out my posting on how I got this car in the sales section... it is an unbelievable story...

Hi Thomas -

I suggest getting the AIM (Assembly Instruction Manual) and a good wiring diagram (got mine from Lectric Ltd. when I bought my wiring harnesses).

Thomas, I recommend Don Olsons wiring diagrams. They're color coded and laminated in a huge 2' x 3' drawing. Search the archives for how to contact him.

I got my diagram from Olson and my harnesses from Lectric Limited. Super job on the harnesses; dropped right in. The diagram was really useful, also! Good luck..........
