Problems #2 with the 700 install
Ok, I've got the 700R4 on the tranny jack and I've lifted it into position. I'm trying very hard but the torque converter doesn't seem to want to go into the flywheel. Something is holding it up. From you guys like JVette and others who've done this install already will the 700R4 torque converter slide into the stock flexplate with no problems? I'm not too sure. It doesn't seem to want to line up correctly. Although I've already checked and verified that the bolt pattern is correct. Any help now would be great. I'm almost there.

Sounds like you don't have the torque converter fully seated, it can look like it is all the way in, but you have to twist it around and it will slide back another inch or so. The torque converter has to be fully seated back into the transmission housing before you raise the tranny up to bolt it up. With the torque converter fully seated in the transmission, there should be just a little space between flexiplate and the flywheel. After you get a few bolts in it, it will snug up nicely.
Remember once you get the torque converter slid into the housing, rotate it and push it until it locks into place.

I'll give that a try. I think that my other problem is that I can't get the tranny up high enough. So i'm going to have to slip a piece of wood under it or something. thanks for the help.
