Default Which wire is it?

I am new to posting on here but have been watching for a while, so I know you all will have the answer so my question is this, I have a "bubba-fied" 1974 L48 auto, the car is #'s matching and not in great shape, but anyway I am looking to find out which wire goes to the Temperature Sensor on the head. I can not find any wires with connectors that would go to it, BUT I have about 5 wires that have been cut close to the firewall and really need my temp gauge to work, if anyone has any input please help me out and if you need more info let me know

Thanks in advance
Ryan

It is a green wire. Try a length of wire with an alligator clip to span the void and make a connection. Easy to test it out.

If you need the connector, AC Delco sell it.

Got the assembly instruction manual for '74? It has a wiring diagram in it and shows the various wiring locations and connections under the hood.

AIMs are worth their price.

Most likely it is cut back in the harness. It will come from the group of wires going towards alternator. Good luck and welcome to the money pit.. .

Thank you all again for the responses, I will be investing in the assembly manual soon, and yes "Money Pit" is exactly how I would describe my car at the moment, but I sure do love it

Ryan,
In addition to the assembly manual already suggested, having the proper year GM Chassis Service Manual will help you find your way in places where Bubba has worked his magic. I find the GM manual to be a lot more helpful than Clymer or Haynes manuals.
Regards,
Alan

It should be on the harness on the LH inter fender.
