Hi
I did read old threads before posting but want some guidance.
Problem:
Reverse Lights- do not work at all.
Pass. rear running light does not work.
Pass. rear turn signal weak.
AND
courtesy light(not sure if correct name) near hood release stays on all the time.
I have read older posts and figure I should start with the bulbs, fuses, and THEN! the reverse switch.
Here is where I need some guidance.
I have an automatic. Where is the switch located?
Under the center console next to the shifter?
OR
near the steering column?
How do I provi it is the reverse switch?
Where do I get a new one?
Everywhere I look seems to sell them for MANUAL cars only.
Yes it is in the console but its called a neutral saftey switch.Thats why your only finding manual ones.
Probe the pink and green wires with the ign key on.
In reverse both pink and green should be hot in all other gears only the pink side is hot.

Thanks- YEP- NOW I find it at all the stores.
$70 or so...
There are 2 types, one WITH seatbelt warnings and one without.
HOW do you know if you have/had seatbelt warnings?
I would prefer no warnings...lol
SO can I just get that type regardless or will I have extra wires?

You should be fine without the seatbelt wires.I dont think your car had any seat belt buzzers.Around 74 they would not even start without the seatbelts buckled and about 76 I think they would start but they would buzz if they wernt buckled.I'm not 100% on all that but I am confident the "without" will work for you.Make sure you have 12v to the switch first before you sh*t can it.$70 bucks is $70 bucks
If I'm off on this info hopefully some of the guys that have these years will chime in.

MY 72 has seatbelt buzzers that go off unless I buckle them up or at least pull them out a ways.
The courtesy lamp is controlled by the push switch that is located in the hinge pillar that is right near the lamp. The switch probably needs to be adjusted so that the door pushes the plunger in the switch far enough in to turn the lamp off.
Regards,
Alan
Weak lights indicate a bad ground. The lights are grounded to the frame and after 35 years there might be some rust on the frame. Clean all of the connections and you should have bright lights again.
Really? I thought that started in 73.Oh well the ole memory aint what it used to be.
Who knows? maybe it's your memory but I hear ya because mine isn't all that good either.
I do have the buzzer that goes off and I did some research on the 72 and mine has factory A/C,AM/FM radio and Pwr windows and it seems that only 35 % of the 72's had them.
I'm far from up on all thing C3 which is why this board is good to checkout.
I had a new harness for a 72, through last detail. There is a note attached to the wiring about the seat belts. It says early 72 without the seat belt and late 72 with the seat belt switch. Just check your seats is wires go up to the neutral switch you need with.

I have an early '72 (#456!) and it doesn't have the seat belt wiring, but the late '72's had it. Your car will not have this feature.
Now I am MORE confused than before.
After playing with the center console, ONE of the reverse lights comes on sometimes. If I have the shifter in just the right spot closer to Neutral if comes on.
Could this still be the Neutral Safety Switch?
Or is it other issues possibly?
To RECAP:
My back right running light is a no go...
The Driver reverse light does not work at all and right side only sometimes.
AND the back right turn signal is weaker.(Possible grounding issue)
Previously the interior courtesy light would stay on- not it is off.
THANKS TO EVERYONE WHO CHIIMMED IN!
Rear lights ALL working nicely now.
I checked the bulbs, fuses and neutral safety swicth and everything appeared ok. So I decided to go through everything again. Same order: with a little more detail this time.
I purchased all new bulbs for the rear and replaced them.
Had the wife get in and they all worked kinda. Some flickered.
SO I decided to check the connections.
Had some corrosion.
A light touch of sand paper and whala!
LIGHTS!
Still have one minor light concer, the courtesy light near the hood release doesnt shut off, but I think the adjar switch is bad and will replace it.
Hopefully that solves all the electrical as far as lights.
