The guys at Best Buy wanted to charge me for an extra relay to disable the factory alarm for the 89 Corvette alarm system.

89 has a completely different alarm system than 78. As Roger posted the 78 does not disable the starter, you can see this in the schematics SLVRSHARK posted. It sounds like there has been some work done on her alarm system, no telling what. About the only way to know is to run it down, maybe all they did was add something to the factory alarm system.

An easy way to disable the factory 78 alarm would be to cut a wire. No parts like a relay would be needed. The trigger switches could still be used for another alarm w/ a 1 wire connection.
