Default Which Motor Mounts?

This is it, a 454 goin' inta an '80 L82.
All I can find are part numbers, but not any dimentions. Block hugger headers, for a C3 w/BB, and they hit on the pitman arm bracket where it ataches to the frame. Also hits on the steering box. Can anybody give me some measurements, or where I can get them. I have "heard", that a GM motormount is a GM motormount, but I ain't so sure 'bout that. First time loadin' a 454, done a few SBs.

I don't know if Moroso used the factory dimensions, but their solid mounts for C3's (same for SB and BB) #62530 is 1 3/4" from block surface to CL of the frame mount hole, and 2 5/8" between the frame mount flanges. When changing to them, I experienced no noticeable difference in position.

I've also converted form SB to BB, but used the Hookers instead.

Hope it helps.

If not, at least consider this as a TTT for your thread...

Ah,.....a number I don't have. 1 3/4". I'll check this with the mounts I have now. The headers are "supposed" to fit, but y'all know how that goes sometimes.

I switched from a SB to a BB in my '69. Two different part stores listed SB and BB mounts as being different, so I bought the BB mounts which were taller than the SB mounts, but they wouldn't fit my frame horns. I ended up using the SB mounts which fit prefectly.

I have the sb mounts on 'er right now. So, I'm figurin' that it's the headers that are wrong. Dang it!
Thanks for the responces.

Another question,......
in another post, there was the mention of the engine being offset to one side. Could I have the motor mounts switched?

The mounts are the same, The frame horns are what offsets the motor, about 1" to the passenger side.

That offset is per factory design. There's debate over why. I've heard that Zora wanted to compensate for the driver's weight being off center.

some year(s) had shims (1/8") in the shape of a V that went between the block and mount, one or both side(?), for vettes with an A/C option i think. i looked into this when doing a swap, but could never figure out the reasoning. what i ended up with had the dimensions of the SB mount, 99% sure.

the frame horns were the same as far as i could find between the BB and SB on vettes. some chevelles and maybe other cars that had bolted frame horns were different btwn BB and SB i think . . .

All of your answers are pointin' at the headers, as bein' the prob.
I can mod them, but I'd rather have what is "right", than "Bubba-ize".
Many thanks to all, for the responces.

I heard it was to give your feet more room for the pedals.
