The AIM is available for each year from 1956 thru 1982. I think 1956/57 are a single document.
.... I got a 68 coupe and I keep coming up with things in the electrical sections of the AIM that just don't match. ....
Do you have a specific example? Some parts entered the line as a "subassembly", and so the individual parts in the subassembly don't show up in the AIM (but DO show up in the parts catalog).
The wiper over ride light would be one. And the color of the wires for the windshield wiper motor is another I have run into, sure thier is more than just that also.
The A.I.M. will give you all the detail available for the final assembly line (only). Major sub-assemblies are not covered in the A.I.M. (ie, engine, transmission, door subs, T-top subs, etc. Engine and tranny detail can be found in the Haynes, Helm or Chilton manuals. For "difficult" sub-assemblies, I would recommend a query on this site for folks who have rounded-up those exploded assembly views.
The major mechanical sub-assemblies are covered by the Unit Overhaul Manuals.
All thes books seem great. But if I can ask a quistion here, I got a 68 coupe and I keep coming up with things in the electrical sections of the AIM that just don't match. Seems these books cover early cars and not late ones like mine. I have not seen any manuals listed for early or late cars, this may be a problem for opther years also. But the quistion is have you seen a AIM or similar for a late car? Thanks
AIMs were updated as things changed on the production line. The updated pages SHOULD be in the book with the change date...but they might not be, if they were missing from the source copy.
I have the GM service manual, GM overhaul manual and the Corvette Assembly Manual for my 1974.
The GM overhaul manual is not so good, pictures are too dark.
The service manual is an original print, very good example.
The Assembly manual is also very good, it's a copy but a very good copy.
I would like to have a better copy of the GM overhaul manual, the one i bought from Helm Inc was nothing to be proud of.
So who has the best copy's for sale?
Also there is a lot of recomendations to the shop manual. Is that the same as the service manual?
If not I have to buy myself a new manual I think

Just get on eBay and wait for an original copy to show up.
I don't know why the manual from Helm would have a printing problem - they've been supplying the GM manuals for years (my original 77 owner's manual has a Helm manual order form in the back). Maybe you should send them an email and ask about it. Could be something as simple as a printing error, and they might replace it if it's an error.

I live in Norway and sending it back cost's as much as a new one. I think I will just buy another one, just not shure where to try for my next.
Anyone with experience from Greg's Automotive? http://www.gregsonline.com/

If they're selling the GM manuals, they're getting them from Helm. I think in this case the best course of action is to talk to the source. At the very worst, you might have to buy a new copy from them.
Or you can keep an eye on eBay for an original copy. There are two listed right now. Both will ship worldwide. One copy is VERY cheap.
but I have 3 or 4 original GM Manuals 2 I believe are the 2 of the 3 numbers that make up the Helm // GM set, plus 1977 GM Corvette Wire Manual about 11 X 17 and another GM manual that has Corvette plus other Chevrolet and a BodyShop GM Manual that covers the Vette and bunch of other believe only Chevrolets.
Plus Haynes, Chiltons, New and originals from about 78 and 79 cpyrt, the Chevrolet parts interchange, Seem like a Clymers... the White with Red Print Cover 68 82 Small Block manual plus just about everything else I could find new or used on Ebay, and Amazon (and one of their competitors.
Like someone wrote, if I don't understand one or it's deficient in an area, I look another one, if one doesn't have a picture another one might.. but black and white (grayscale pictures suck) so between this forum and another one, if you need a color picture if you can find one here or there, someone will usually go out and take a picture within a day or so.. or multiples. And ain't anything on a vette that at least a few dozen people have taken of and usually put back on that you can't get an answer for here or over at other site. If you can't find someone on here that's done it, you probably aren't working on a vette..
These guy here know their stuff and so do those on the other site.
AIM, GM Service Manual, Chevy Power Book (4th ed.), and my treasured copy of the Chevrolet 1953-1982 Corvette Parts and Illustration Catalog.
Can't say enough good things about this, best resource I own. I have an original dealer hard copy, but it's available on CD (E-bay has 'em all the time) or online as a PDF. Every part number and picture you could ask for. I also like the A/C and wind noise/waterleaks books (do a search here), but they are out of print.

It's also available on microfiche. I have a copy in that format (and a microfiche reader - I like to get the factory parts manuals for any vehicle I own, if available).
