Anyone had trouble with their back-up lights staying on all the time? I put a back-up light switch on and hooked it up, and I have one light on all the time and the other doesn't come on at all. I am guessing a short somewhere. Looking for help, thanks.
Swap the two bulbs and see if it's a bad connection or ground on one side or if the bulb is simply burned out. That might eliminate one part of your problem.
If you have two operating bulbs, your problem may be the back-up light switch is in need of adjustment or could be bad. Don't automatically assume you have a short. Work from the basic and work up up to the more involved.
Follow the wiring from the switch to the light sockets, pay attention to grounds and connections.
I swapped the bulbs and that's not it, and I am not sure on the switch. I just bought it new and I installed it according to the AIM, but that is not saying I didn't screw it up. I got another source saying to check the ground.
I would check to make sure the body of the back-up light is well grounded. Remember it's just mounted in the rear fiberglass panel. The grounds for all the rear lights are strung together in series.

Alan
PS: If it were the switch you wouldn't have 1 light working.

Yes , anytime you have any weird electrical problems it usually turns out to be a bad ground, especially on a corvette.
If your back-up light is on all the time your switch is stuck or activated on, or you have power bypassing the switch! My guess would be faulty switch or switch not installed properly.
If you have one light on all the time you should have both light illuminated at the same time. I would suspect a ground fault or faulty socket/bulb. Put a ground jumper wire to failed light to test for power.
