Do you think I should connect the headunit ground to the switch also??
If you want the switch to actually work (cut the power)...then you'll need to run the head unit/ amp grounding circuit through it as well. I can't think of any possible way around it.
No problem on the advice (...just hope it helps); it's been great following your progress!

Thanks.
Looks like I've got a nice list of things to do tonight.
I'll let you know how it turns out.
Maybe I'll start'er up tomorrow night and take some video.
Another option for keeping power to the head unit is putting a jumper wire around the disonnect that has a small fuse in it. Most disconnects actually have this. That way, you disconnect but everything is still connected. If you try to start the vehicle or anything tries to pull a heavy load the fuse will bust and cut the power. You just have to remember about it. I did this for a while and kept forgetting about the fuse.....I'd have the switch disconnected, get in, see lights and subconsiously think everything is OK. Then go to start the car and Pop, oops. Hope that makes sense.

Makes perfect sense. I actually already have a 10/15 amp fuse inline on the radio positive wire. I'm going to relocate it to the battery side of the cutoff switch so I should have constant power and keep the presets. Thanks
