Default 71 Inner door panel paper

Originally the inner door skin was covered with a heavy paper. Mine is gone. These are very costly for something that can never be seen. Has anyone made their own? If so what type of material did you use and how did you stick it to the metal door surface?
Has anyone used a sound deadening material like you'd put on the floor panel? If so, will it peel back easily enough if you have to do repairs?

The original door vapor barriers were clear polyethylene. The piece was formed with areas to go over high points, not just a flat surface, and it had a non-hardening sealant bead laid around the perimeter so it would stick and seal to the door. Heavy gauge poly sheet is a good substitute. Those in wet areas (who drive or park in the rain) definitely need them; us folks in Phoenix believe them to be unnecessary.

My 70 has clear vinyl sheet. Believe it originally was attached with a sealer/adhesive. I used Gorilla tape to attach mine when installing a window regulator.

Thanks! I'm thinking of clear/black visquine and two-sided carpet tape.

The Dynamat stuff REALLY sticks, you'll never get it off to service the door. I also used the Home Depot black plastic sheet. Most good auto supply stores sell the black rope caulk to use as an adhesive to hold it on.

use the black window seal . it is very sticky but never dries out so the plastic can be taken off and put back on if needed

This was some closed cell foam packaging material my son got for me. The water runs off like a ducks back. This was when I put auto door locks in the 73 I used the 3m strip calk to secure it
