installed new wiring harness in cabin and rear of my 70. brake, back up, and running lights are ok, but turn signal and flasher do not work. where can i start to look? don't even think about telling me to remove my steering column!!!!!!

Do you have the flasher units installed in the harness? If so, check voltage at the flasher units (there is one flasher for the turn signals and another for the hazards).
thanks for the response, guys
i fiddled with the hazard switch, and now the flashers work, but the turn signals are still dead. i put a new flasher unit in when i did the wiring harness. is there more that one type? when i depress the turn signal lever, i don't get any indication on the dashboard arrow lights either.

If you have a test light with the ign. key on probe the purple wire at the harmonica connector going to the turn signal switch-both sides should be hot.If you dont have 12 volts then go back to the purple at the turn signal flasher and check there.
If the hazard flashers work but the turn signals don't, it is NOT in the wiring back to the lights...both systems use the same wiring. It is likely that 1) the turn signal flasher unit went bad or the wiring got damaged during your repair; 2) the turn signal system in the steering column has lost its ground.
The flashers use a different fuse than the turn signals.
There is no ground in the column for the flashers.
The purple should come out of the flasher as pink to the fuse box. It should be shared with the backup lites on the same fuse. You said your backups work.
Double check that the heaviest filament in the bulb is not the running lites.
The pink to the flasher should be 12v.
The purple out of the flasher to the harmonica connector should be 12v.
The yellow and dark green at the harmonica connector are the turn signal leads going to the rear.
The light blue and dark blue are the front signals.
Jumper out the flasher with a short lead of 14gauge wire. Make sure you have 12v at the purple going into and out of the connector.
IF
-the turn lites comes on, then the flasher is bad.
-nothing happens then the turn switch assembly is bad.
Don't install a new turn switch assembly, test one first by just plugging it into the harmonica connector.
