Default Frame Rot

I am looking to buy a rolling chassis with small amount frame rot on the pass side. Companies sell the 23'' piece needed to fix it. I know how to weld and fix the problem. My question is he is selling it for $800, is it worth it? The frame under my car is bent pretty good and I believe it has been pulled already. Any input would be helpful

Frame rust can be a little like cockroaches-the part that you see is only a tiny bit of what's really there. Make sure you've got a good idea of just how extensive the rust is. If it's just minor perforation in one spot 800 bucks sounds reasonable.

Check the differential crossmember for chunks of scale buildup as well as any holes in the frame that you can fit a finger into. Rust on Vettes is funny - some parts might be fine while the same parts on the other side might be totally shot. If there is heavy scale buildup the metal is going to be thinner than it should be and the strength of the frame might be in question. Depending on the year you can usually find a pretty good condition frame for $800 - if it's 74 and up. The rolling chassis part may or may not be valuable to you. You still have to strip the frame and there are only a few parts that have any value on ebay.
