Timing today
I got the initial timing set to 12 degrees, when I went to look at centrifugal advance, set the timing light to 36 degrees, rev the engine, even at very high rpm, the line wasnt coming at way near the O marker, so I need to sort distributor weights/springs etc, is that correct?
Is it just as easy to buy a new distributor??

Springs won't change the length of your advance curve. initial timing of 12 degrees isn't much. Just advance your timing to get 36 total once the timing pegs out. With stock springs in place, you will probably need to rev it up into the 4000-rpm range unless you remove one of the springs during the checking.
