Default Front Suspension Shields

Is it really necessary to have these tabs on the front splash shields? I understand they are supposed to be bent up once the bolt is installed, but do I really need them? The reason I am asking is that they are $30 each and mine are in perfect condition, minus the fact that these tabs are missing. I replaced my 2 rear ones because they were all bent, but these ones are in perfect condition. Both shields are only missing one of the two tabs.

I wouldn't worry about it. If your concerned that the bolt will back itself off, use a lock washer. Otherwise, I'd just use the one tab thats there.

Thanks for the response. I've decided to use them and save myself $60.

Use some blue locktite and whats left of the tabs, you should be fine.

I have these on my 67, Considering the fact that the large bolt that goes onto the tabbed hole is torqued at over 100 lbs. into the front spindles I don't think you need to worry about this bolt ever coming loose. Keep yours!!
