Default vent cable locations

if was hooking up my centre console on my 70 stingray and i only have 3 vent cables and im pretty sure that there are supposed to be 4. If someone could shed some light on the routing of the cables. i have the 2 side vent cables and one coming from behind the radio, but i dont know where the other one is, or if there is another one?

If I'm not mistaken there are only 3. The left and right side vents controlled by the levers and one cable to control a door on the heater box with is controlled by the thumb wheel.

But again, I may be mistaken.

The other one is vacuum operated. It is a big plug that has several hoses coming out of it to work the HVAC.

I would be guessing if I said for certain. I just removed my unit to install the Hot Rod Air. I haven't put it back in yet. But I know that one cable was connected to the thumb wheel mechanism. Had to pop off the little washer like keeps to free the cable.

On the right wheel, there is a vacuum control for the rear deck vents. The left thumb wheel I believe has the 4 hose vacuum pod. The 3rd cable connects to the arm of one of the thumb wheels. I am almost certain it connects to the heater box. All other doors are vacuum operated.

Based on the AIM for my 73 that was a Non-A/C car, it looks like the 3rd cable connects to the right thumb wheel and the other end connects to the heater box to control the defrost diverter door.

It does route from the right thumb wheel towards the radio and then bends to the right to connect to the assm on the heater box.

I have a 69 but I am pretty sure yours is the same. The left wheel if you look at your heater assy moves a vacuum switch that a 4 port round vacuum connection attaches to. The previous posts are correct in regards to the 3 cables, I just went through all of this on mine. Hope this helps

Not sure if this is correct but mine were on the posts that the front fiber optics cover uses to bolt to the console. The 7/16 nut was holding the cover on then the tab for the cable was on and then a clip to hold it all together. I am not sure that was English but I understood did you.

The right thumb wheel arm (for lack of a better word) has a little 1/4 vertical stub. The cable attaches to this and is held in place with a spring type washer (the perforated washer thingy) that is actaully a press-on nut. The cable has a black plastic mounting tab atthe thumb control end that attaches to the right bracket of the control unit. The other end attaches to the heater box.

I don't have pictures because all my stuff is ripped out. But if you're still unsure I can pull out the box and snap some pics.
