New development with drivability issues, I have a stock L49 4sp. the car seems to stumble when I go around corners at a slow speed, almost as if it was starving for fuel. The carb (stock Q-jet) was rebuilt last year by a guy who is supposed to be an "expert". There are some other drivability issues also, off idel stumble, when its wide open it seems to work fine, almost like "on, or off" rather than a smooth transition from part to full throttle. Any ideas?? New carb or find a new "expert" or replace q-jet with one from Jet or Sean Murphy??
There are a lot of "qjet experts" around.
I think the majority of them just put it in some carb cleaner and reassemble. It is probably one of the most misunderstood carbs around.
A properly rebuilt qjet will be completely smooth from idle to wot and all points in between. the only way you can tell that the secondaries have come in will be by the sound. The term quadrabog has come from poor adjustments.
Send it to lars or olescarb or someone that understands them.
I had a similar problem when I went around a corner and gave it gas the car would stumble, I did the usual repairs, distributer rebuild,Qjet rebuild,Fuel filter, fuel pump, fuel line at pump, timing, plugs, wires, vaccum hoses. After all that I still had a problem so I decided to check the entire fuel line front to back and as soon as I looked at the 2 inch piece a fuel hose connected right at the top of the tank that feeds the pump I knew that was my problem. The hose was saturated and cracked. I replaced the hose and have had no problems since. Lesson learned always check the small stuff first and work up from there. Up side is that everything I replaced or rebuilt needed it. Good luck
