Guys- I posted a thread concerning my carb and it's problems. I was set straight on a few issues but am still perplexed as to why the air mixture screws when turned seem to have no effect at all.
thanx for everyone's help

Those screws are idle mixture screws and won't affect anything but the idle, as mentioned above, they have no effect once you're past idle.
Change your idle with the screws on the driver's side, and by rotating the distributor. Don't do this though unless you're timing the motor and have a timing light handy.

If the carb will idle with the mixture screws all the way in (closed) it means your carb is not idling on the idle circuit (you are discharging fuel at idle from the main discharge circuit). If you post what type of carb you have I can give you a li\st of all the problems that can cause that - there are a lot of them...
