Default broken windshield

Some road debris has broken my windshield. Thankfully, my insurance steps in and covers the replacement.

Since I'm really short on time, I'd like to let professionals do this one for me. Do they need any special instructions or is this just like any windshield swap?

While it's off, should I look for anything more to fix around the area?

It's just like any other windshield swap. While it's out, look for rust / rot around the windshield frame. It's a common area to get this sorta thing.

Thats why I suggest having the glass repair company come to your place to do the installation rather then bringing the car to them.

A '72 will most likely have rust issues that can take quite some time to repair correctly, so it's best to have the car where you can work on it as long as you need to

It's not like 'anyother' unless the tech has been doing old corvette windshields day in and day out. First there's the whole issue of getting the stainless trim off and back on without damaging it. Next, often the clips for the top piece of trim need to be replaced so it's a good idea to have some of those on hand. Many times the windshield frame will need some work (rust?) while the windshield is out. And...
Regards,
Alan

Make sure they know how to space it out properly, too. If they just use the modern glue without rubber spacers, the windshield will sit too low.

I have a problem with the top exterior windshield trim piece on my 77. It keeps popping up. I've seen the clips for sale but have not seen the trim. Do the clips fit into the adhesive when the windshield is replaced or can I reinstall them now? I've seen some guys who cake a lot of windshield adhesive under the trim leaving a good size gap. This looks real bad and I'm hoping to rectify without having to fill the gap.
