Default Check Engine Light

I have a 1982 corvette. The Check Engine Light came on briefly for a few seconds and then went off while driving. Any suggestions or comments would be appreciated. Thanks

Like DWncchs said see if it logged a code. You need to look under the drivers side of your dashboard and look for the computer diagnostic connector. It will be somewhere usually accessable without removing any panels. It is a 2 row connector. Look for the letters A & B. The A will be the ground and the B will the diagnostic. You take either a paperclip or a wire and ground the A to The B and then turn the ignition to the on position. You will read the codes by the Check Engine light flashing. The check engine light will flash a code 12 three times. That means a single flash followed by a double flash. After that it will flash out the trouble codes by the same series of light flashes. For example if it flashes twice and then pauses with four flashes that would be a code 24. After the computer is done flashing the trouble codes it will go back to the original flashing the code 12 again. Let us know what trouble codes you have logged. To clear the codes either pull the ECM fuse or disconnect the battery.

82 connector should be under the ash tray.

If it did not log a code, it may have experienced an "out of normal range" operating condition. When an engine sensor starts to fail or "changes its behavior", the engine light can come on...but go out again if that system goes back to operating normally. You might have a sensor starting to go. If there is no registered code, and the light doesn't come back on, ignore it. If a code is logged, that may give you some idea of what is starting to fail.
