Carb/Intake queston
Been deployed to Iraq for the last 8 months which has allowed me to plan out my upgrades for my 80 L-82 when I get home in Jan. Have already purchsed a monospring front end kit from VB& P as well as 4 new o ring calipers and rotors/new shockes/firestone tires. New aluminum radiator/dual spal fan, stewart stage 2 waterpump/thermostat, 135 amp alternator, Patriot aluminum 64 cc/195cc runners 7/16 studs and 1.6 stainless steel roller rockers/+.100 pushrods. Hooker stainless sidepipe headers with 4 inch sidepipes/steelshields. So heres my question. I want to maintain using the dual snorkel cool air intake/aircleaner set up that came with the L82 engine. Besides the stock aluminum L82 intake and rochester carb, what other combos would work with both my upgrades and still fit under the hood. My gut choice is to clean up/port match the intake and rebuild the Q-jet. Other choices? Thanks in advance Semper Fi Bob
Send the carb off to Lars for rebuild and tuning, he is THE guy for those.
Thank You for serving and coming home safe
Sounds like a good plan you got going. What kind of HP do you expect to Get from your efforts?
Lars could Have the Qjet rebuilt to top notch for you if you could get it shipped to him.
Not sure about fitment using the original canister on other Manifold. Lots around here run their original Quads with aftermarket Low rise Manifolds , maybe someone will chime in with for certain Info.
I have an Edelbrock EPS that I never used laying around If your interested.
Stay safe ..

69 vettester - Form what I have read here the L82 manifold should support the other changes and unless there is an apreciable manifold upgrade while still being able to close the hood I have no problem cleaning it up and using it. Not sure how much HP the upgrades will give, but when you start with 230 Hp on the stock engine configuration anything is an upgrade. If I can get 300 HP I would be very happy. If anyone can run numbers on a computer program I would be interested in wheter I can expect to see 300.
Thanks again for the info
