Have 69 350 with Holley 650 DP, when i floor the car i can manualy still open the carb about 1/4 of the way, when the idle is set correctly. Now if i adjust linkage (non-stock) to get wide open throtle the car starts up at 3000 rpm, not ideal. What can I do? can this be adjusted at carb or should i try to bend the actual petal upward? Thanks in advance.
It sounds like the new carb requires more movement of the throttle cable to open it fully (that the stock cable allows). See if there is a hole [for mounting the throttle cable] closer to the linkage pivot point than where it is presently located. That should allow the carb to open more with the same cable movement.
I had the same problem. The throttle pedal bolts to the firewall using a pad and two bolts. I made a spacer to go behind the plastic pad allowing the pedal a larger range of motion.
Also I agree with 7T1vette, see if there is a hole closer to the pivot point on the carb. It will make the pedal a little stiffer, but will speed up the carb throttle plate action.
the linkage is at the closest hole to the cable, but both the spacer and bending the pedal sound like good ideas, what did you use as a spacer washers?

While you messing with the pedal, might as well bend it to where you can heel and toe properly if you've got a stick. Makes for a more complete driving experience. Just my .02
BTW, Jason, how come your signature is about the only one I can see on here? Is mine visible?
Had the same problem when I put on a Demon DP. I would bend the gas pedal rod to get full throtle but next time I would check it the rod would be bent back. The accelerator rod on the 70s and up are one piece and much stronger. I bought a used one from Bairs Corvette for 20 bucks I think.

I think I used a scrap piece of aluminum. Used the original bracket as a pattern.
If you have a stick, I would seriously think about bending the rod though. My accelerator pedal is higher than I would prefer for down shifting going into corners.

Nothing offensive in it. Very few others visible to me here...
BTW, there's a question about an understeer remedy at another place where relating you're front end work might be handy.
Sorry for the sidebar. Now back to our regularly scheduled programming...
After quickly becoming spoiled with properly setup pedals in formula cars, I fiddled with my shark's pedal until I got it positioned where heel/toe came natural. So worth the effort with a stick! Hope this isn't too fundamental for those interested... With the ball of your foot on the brake, at threshold braking you want the throttle just below the pinkie side of your foot where you can roll into a blip without catching it by accident. (Wouldn't want to recreate the infamous Audi surge. )
