I completely rewired mine with a universal harness from Painless. No problems. It will take a little longer due to the fact that you will have to splice old connectors but well worth it in the initial cost.
Also it gives you the ability to mount the fuse box any where you want! A big plus
I did a frame off and it was also much easier that way as you may imagine!
Good Luck

Doc Rebuild! website is hard, just call them, they know what they are talking about. I've replaced four different harnesses so far and all of them hooked up with no problems.

I am looking to do the whole car and its ina frameoff state right now
I will be looking at over $1000 easy for it all
What did Painless run you??
Plus I will be using a MSD ignition
I have had good luck with M&H in my previous musclecars...if you ever need tech help (and a good laugh), the owner there is a great guy to work with (don't remember his name, used to deal with him back when I worked for Year One). They can modify the harness for you to accomodate any necessary upgrades (HEI ignition, MSD/Crane ignition boxes, etc).
I used a Painless Wiring kit in my 63 Nova SS, and plan to do the same in my Vette. I'm going to get the extra length harness so that I can move the fuseblock to the rear compartment (much easier access that way), and route the wiring less obtrusively than the factory did. I'm also going to add plenty of Weatherpack-style connectors (from Summit Racing) so that individual sections can be easily removed or disconnected if needed. Overall it will take a lot longer than a stock rewire, but will be better suited to a full restomod like the one I'm planning.

I believe the Painless 12 circuit harness I bought was under $200.00.(cant remember for sure, sorry)
But remember that all connectors must be changed over so you will get a chance to polish up on your soldering skills.
For me and my aplication...It was worth it!!
I mounted the fuse block where the vac. can used to be.
Good luck

Or I suppose I could use these heat shrink type fittings my Dad does in autobody that has the solder right in the middle too
My car is deffinetly not going to be original but I think I might try to get the fiber optics to work or maybe not and go with the led lights??
