Steering Control Valve Question.
Just finished rebuilding my SCV as per Jim Shea's paper, no problems, excellent paper. When I had the CV installed on the frame, (body still off) and turned the steering I noticed a little play, maybe 3/16" side to side at C/V ball & socket. I know there is a spring in the ball and socket side, is this what's causing the play? During assembly, when I tightened the plug into the ball/socket sleeve, I would have had to pull really hard on the tool to get the slots in in the plug to line up with the slots in the sleeve and I really had to force on the ball to get it to move in the socket, so as per the paper I loosened it until the next slot lined up. The ball was still stiff but not binding.
Note: There are still no P/S lines hooked up as it is a body off resto.
I just wanted to check if this play is normal, before I pull the thing apart again.
