Mobil 1 M1-111 filter here in my '82, twice the filtering power of all others, filter canister is rated nine times nornal vehicle oil system operating pressure. Bypass valve (insures oil flow, cold starts and pressure surges) few bucks more but well worth it.

Why would you run that small filter? Exhaust clearance?
That filter was designed for 4x4 trucks with front driveshaft interference so they made it half size.
The M1-302 is the full size filter equivalent to the old AC PF35 but has the anti-drainback valve.
Other good ones:
WIX 51060
NAPA 1060 (same filter?)

I agree with the Wix filter. I use Wix on all of my vehicles. Also as an alternative you might look at Napa Gold filters. Supposed to be the same as Wix.
This is like asking what flavor ice cream is the best. I personally like the premium filters such as Pure One and Mobil One. They are more expensive but worth it IMO. One way to tell a filter's quality is to compare their weight by holding them in your hand. You'll quickly see that the premium ones are heavier as they contain more filtering properties. Also, read the info on the filter's box which will give you info regarding its filtering ability.

Yes, they are made by Wix, but for the extra $4 you get the exact same filter. It's been checked out.
