Headlight indicator
The red headlight indicator in the instrument cluster does not stay on in my 71. When I turn the headlights on the light comes on momentarily but when the lights finish popping open the light shuts off. I'm assuming this is not correct behavior?? I would have expected that it would stay on. I think it used to but can't remember...i had my instrument cluster apart recently and think i may have done something.
If the car is not running and i turn the lights on (running off battery...no vacuum...headlights go on but do not pop up) the red indicator stays lit.
Any ideas?

That light will warn you that one of the headlights (or both) is not popped all the way up (hence it will turn off when the headlight is fully popped up). kind of safety feature.
