I found a LT1 engine and tranny from a 94 camero. The camero has been wrecked. The guy had the engine bored and rebuilt, the tranny was also overhauled. it also has the computer. I can get the whole car, engine and tranny for $3500.00. I have a couple of questions I hope someone can help me with.What is the rated HP of this motor. It does have alum. heads. My 79 vette now prolly has around 325 hp.With new heads, cam and carb. i'm thinking I can get another 100hp. Any thoughts on this. will the LT1 make that much HP? I have (2) 51 chevy trucks I am restoring and was thinking of putting the LT1 in one of them as well as the front end and rearend from the camero. Or should I put the LT1 with the 4 speed auto tranny in my vette?

I believe that the engine was rated at 330 horse.If it was rebuilt,then probably alittle more horse.Why was it rebuilt?The Lt would be a more dependable engine,and the 4 speed auto in your vett would get you alot better gas mileage,and be easier on the engine.

It might be better for one of your trucks. The upper A-arms make it hard to use most LT1 accessory brackets. Some will fit but I don't know which ones. I think Corvette specific LT1 brackets are needed.
