GO SOMEWHERE ELSE ASAP!!!!
I have 2.5" pipes and the shop managed to fit them from the headers around the wide 700R4 and through the crossmembers! Still no rattles after 4 years!!!!
I see you are in Louisiana...go to Supreme Muffler on Quincy Street in Metairie if you are near New Orleans.
The 2.5" pipes flow much better....take my word for it!

For your horsepower output, you are in the 2.5-2.75" pipe range. Smaller pipe size will affect your hp. If hp is not an issue with you, the cost for 2.25" pipe is much less than 2.5" pipe. For what reason, I don't know. If they price quoted you for 2.5" pipe and are now changing their mind, you are getting ripped off.

Another thing to consider is how they are bending the pipe. Mandrel?

Run very fast away from these people. There is no problem putting a set of 2.5 inch pipes on a C3. I bought a set and hung them myself so I don't understand their problem. L82 engines came standard with 2.5 inch pipes so the car was designed for them. The lower powered L48 engines came with smaller pipes. If you're having a problem finding a place that will bend them just go to any of the major suppliers and buy a set and then have a shop install them. I would also recommend that you get stainless pipe so you won't have to do the job again. Just my $.02.
