bent pushrods
Well as some of you know, my timing chain *hit the bed. It must have skipped some teeth because now I have 3-4 noticeably bent pushrods and lots of loose rockers. Question: should I assume that the valves are toast, or is it salvageable without removing the heads? :confused:

I had a 350/350 with 5 bent pushrods this summer. Scared me so bad I pulled the head and have it professionally checked. Turns out one valve definitely was bent (something you can't really tell sitting in the head). :nopity

Compression test is the only way to tell. Valves are pretty strong, so I'm guessing dents in the pistons would be the first to break.

If the pushrods came out of the lifter there is a chance that the lifter came apart if you have hyd. lifters. You can feel the lifter by putting an unbent pushrod in place and feeling for the taper in to the center of the lifter. If it came apart the part that the pushrod touchs will be flat across.
