Still think you've got a gasket leak somewhere...oil getting into the intake. If not, those would be the most carboned-up 300 mile plugs I ever saw for a rich-running carb!

Those plugs don't look like any oil is being sucked in, they would be wet, ( or is the picture not showing that ) some do look like they are running rich
My concern is that they all don't look similar
One more thing - try some Autolite plugs instead of those AC Irridium or whatever those are. The regular run of the mill Autolites have a broader heat range than most others. Nothing fancy needed for now. Experiment later once the new engine is baselined if desired.
Plugs won't be "wet" from excess oil unless they become fouled (and non-functional). Until then, the firing charge will just burn the oil and leave carbon.
Well if you guys think #1 and #5 are just black from being rich, maybe I just have a slow leak when running and I dont notice it since there are no spots on the ground after parking.
I'm going to try some hard accelerations and see if I see blue smoke. Maybe it will work its way out with more miles on the engine.

Exactly what I was getting at, they would foul if intake gasket was leaking
With only 300 miles it's way to early to worry about oil comsumption or spark plug condition. If it's still like that at 3K then it's time to investigate, IMHO. Good luck.
Jet it down one size. Put one heat range hotter plug in it. Run it hard, you have to seat the rings. Use dyno oil not Synthetic. Looks like the rings aren't completely seated yet. If you baby it too much or use synthetic oil your cylinder crosshatch can get knocked down before the rings get seated and they will not seat depending on the rings and cylinder finish. Run it through the gears good everytime out wind it up to 5000 rpm a few times every time you get to operating temperature. Downshift and let the engine slow you down when slowing or stopping for the next 500 miles. A little oil consumption for the first 1000 miles or so is not unusual on a new build.
Thanks mako I pretty much did what you said on break in and I'm definetly not babying it. The plugs were a start by recommendation here on the forum and AFR but maybe I need a hotter plug. I'm using a dino oil VR1 (pretty sure its dino) so no issues there.
