Default Tank Sticker

I feel like Geraldo opening Capone's safe! Nada, zip, nothing, oh well, I am going to put a new gasket, braided fuel lines and paint it.

maybe I'll crack the dash next and look behind the speedo.....

Mythbusters???

I know others have found them there, just my usual luck

Maybe, like the Geraldo with Al Capone's safe, a previous owner got there before you and took it.

I bought my '76 new and have never found it. I understand they have been found in various places, though, but I've been all over the car thru the years..

Default Is that tank rom your 78 Pace Car?

I think GM has recoreds of production from the 1977 and newer cars.

You may be able to get some documentation from them.

In any case , sorry your hunt was unsuccesful

Is there a large hollow metal shroud that bolts in and around the inside of the fuel tank cavity? I know in '77 they started using that metal shroud, and they put the tank stickers on the top of it instead of the tank itself.

Have a look and see if they did the same with that shroud in '78.

nope, nothing but fiberglass underbody. I was surprised at how easy it was to get out. Nothing like the other cars I've done.

Found my Pace Car build sheet tucked into the strut rod bracket held in place by the differential heat shield. There's a few threads about finding it there.

no such luck for me, I've got the whole rear end out of the car now replacing/repainting it all. Its good I pulled the tank, a lot of the body sealer had hardened up and peeled back from the joints.

Its not just a myth. I found mine. It's not in the best shape. Came out in two pieces. It is readable though.

I think this is the case, since the top of the tank has been painted, looks like somebody had changed the sending unit out. Tried calling the previous owner but he has moved back to FL. maybe in the dash....

I found my sticker when I took the interior out it was under the drivers seat under the floor insulation in pretty good shape.
