Ok well im about to order some new gaskets for my headers. I have vortec heads and a cheapo set of headers from autozone i belive they are flowtec or a cheap set of headmans. Anyway I keep blowing the header gasket on the passenger side header the driver side is fine. So what header gakset is needed for vortec heads. I have used mr. gasket and the fel-pro designed to fit vortec head fel-pro number 1404 and it blew out in a week. What is the best gasket and what is the correct port do I need round, square, oval or what. Im tired of blowing header gaskets and dont want to get new headers.
This sounds like it is possible that the flange on that side may not be truely flat. You can try these extra thick Remflex Graphite gaskets, they compress 50% to seal.
No. I actually got some Flowtech Real Seal Aluminum Gaskets from Seco. They work great stoped the leaks just make sure to retorque after they have been heated and cooled.
