Default Tach question

What is usually the culprit when the needle on the tachometer goes all the way around and stays in one spot? Also works correctly intermittently. 1981 stock vette automatic transmission

Either bad connection or new PC board for tach. The board was bad on mine. Wuld not work when cold but worked fine when it warmed up. Took a soldering iron to all points and eliminated the cold solder joint.

Hope this helps

Lots of posts on here about that. Could be a variety of reasons. Do a search for "tach board" on you will see them. If you decide to replace the tach board pm me, I can send you some step by step directions given to me by some others if you need it.

you may want to bypass the tach filter to see if it is bad before buying the board.
