Default spark plug metal seals

After crushing the metal gaskets on spark plugs when installing, can the plugs be removed and reinstalled using the same metal gasket?

When I used to clean plugs as a kid, I did this quite often and never had a problem.

They can be used again but if you go to the trouble of removing the plugs, why not put new ones in?

Glass bead them or find a old AC spark plug cleaner machine to do the same thing except a much smaller item to use. They could be expensive as antique collectors for garage items may have the only ones available. Similar to air hose machines and gas pumps. I do it for my scooters too. Another point to cover is that those plug gaskets are available separately. I dont know where you can still find them, but E bay?

Yes. If you correctly torque the plugs, they can be re-used indefinitely.

DON'T EVER Glass bead clean spark plugs and put them back into a engine you like! The glass beads will lodge deep in the plug between the electrode and shell and slowly empty out into your combustion chamber as the motor runs. I DON'T CARE HOW WELL YOU CLEAN THEM THE BEADS ARE STILL THERE! Plugs are cheap, stock up on them now.

Thanks for the responses. The plugs are Platnium 4 prong in a BMW and were replaced just last spring. Doing a valve cover gasket replacement that the BMW dealer wanted $1,000 plus to do. The money I save doing gasket job myself will pay for new plugs, but if they look good I'm going to reuse.

Installation of the plugs shouldn't "crush" the washers, but rather just "flex" them. Plugs shouldn't be so tight that they are deformed.
