I am adding a aftermarket radio to my 71 coupe & I am wondering how hard is it to mount a aftermarket power antenna?
I know how to wire it up etc...just wondering is it a PITA to access the antenna cavity?

I loosened the muffler and worked around it. Not too bad of a job. One thing I would do if I were to do it again would be put a switch in line with the UP power so the antenna does not go up and down all the time. The reason I mention this is I usually just ride with the top down and hardly ever turn the radio on because I cannot hear it anyway and my car is quiet when running at speed as far as exhaust noise is concerned. Wind noise kills the radio.

Great. Glad it's not too hard. Adding to the TO DO LIST.
I replaced the power antenna on my '79 with an OEM one from TLD. I wasn't able to get the muffler to budge, so worked around it. It really was a pretty easy job.

so is there a far amount of room in there?
I don't have to worry about getting a "compact" antenna or anything?
