Default How To Change Ignition Switch 1975

Anybody have a clue on how to change out the switch (not the key) thats on/in the steering colum on a 75 vette......?

That's a fairly easy job with directions coming with the new parts.

Loosen the column attach nuts and let the column drop down a few inches. Remove the (2) 5/16" head screws that hold the switch in place to the top of the column. Remove the switch. Takes about 10 minutes to do the complete job.

But....but.....but the instructions in the attachment to the post above says to "NEVER" try to change the ignition switch without removing the steering column. I think I like your advice better, but tell me why it won't damage the column as suggested in the paper attached? TIA.

I dropped my column and replaced the switch is less than 45-minutes.
