Does anyone have any diagrams or pictures of the door ajar switches on the rear bottom of the doors. I'm trying to get them working and all I can find is a wiring diagram. I bought 1969 switches from ecklers and I can't seem to see how they connect to the door and the wiring. Thanks again.
There is a small metal plate riveted to the body and the switch screws into it. Pink ground wire is soldered to plate and grouned to bird cage just inside.
Its hard to work on with the rear access cover on but if it is just the switch that needs replacing you should be able to unscrew it and have enough slack in the wires to pull it out.
my drivers side has no plate or switch. I will probably make a plate and tap it for the switch to screw into. Bit of a PIA, I happened to have my access panels off when I did my rocker channel replacement so for me I guess it is sooner rather than later as this area is not accesable with the panels on.
If you have a heat gun you can work the panels off with a scraper but you want to be careful as they are about $90. ea
I'm not sure but I think the vendors may carry that plate that you can pop rivet back on. Sounds like a weekend job ahead
Siko,
The nut-plate that has the threaded hole for the switch was riveted in place so if you still have the plate you should be able to pop rivet back in place. You can get access through the little access plate in the front of the rear wheel well.

Alan

The bad thing about these switches is that the wires don't really stay put in the switches very good in my experience. I have thought several time about putting later model switches in there and see if I can't top those chinese repops.
