Hi All
What's involved in matching a pair of Vortech heads from an 80 coupe to my 76 L48? Is it a mere bolt on situation or do I have to change the world?

The heads bolt on just fine but you will need a Vortec intake manifold. The heads might require some minor machine work if you do not have self aligning rockers...so you will need guide plates and hardened push rods. While the heads are being worked on, have them machine the spring pads down for higher lift springs, and you'll want higher lift springs after that.
The only other suggestion after that is a well chosen cam and lifter combo like this one.

Durango Boy - I usually agree with your advice, but you are a little inaccurate this time. He does need a Vortec type manifold. He should use self aligning rockers and forget about guide plates etc. But, no spring pad machining is required. What is required for cams of more than .470 lift, is valve guide boss machining. The cam you spec'd won't require that however. Also, spark plug wire looms need to be modified since the mounting angle changes on the manifold. Quit working on those stereos all the time.

SO I wont be able to use my new Cyclone manifold? Drag
If you buy these heads you won't have to do machine work and can use the early style intake. http://www.competitionproducts.com/p...ber=RHS12410K1
You also get bigger valves and don't have to worry about getting a used head with a crack.
