Default PWR window switch!

I’m putting my interior back together and ran into a quandary. I took my power window switches out and now I don’t know in what way to put them back in. If I put them in upside down the window will go up when I push the button forward. Is there a way of knowing the proper way to install the switch? I really don’t want to take it apart again once I get it back together. 1970.

I have a '70 also. Because of the way the holes are drilled in the parking brake console there should be only one way to put back in.
On my car the right window goes up when switch pushed up. But, the
drivers window goes up when the switch is pushed down.

I would have thought that they would only go in one way. But Bubba must have pounded them into place because now they will fit either way. I just thought that because the outside flang is different it could also tell you witch way to mount them.

Wait till you get everything else installed and connected up before you put the rear console back in. [see special note below] That way you could try the switches before you install the console.

Note: If you haven't done so already, cut the head off of the rear mounting bolt for the rear console...then round it off with a grinder. Reinstall the 'bull-nosed' bolt back in the console and put a nut on the inside of the console to lock it in place. Now all you have to do is set the back-end in place...with the newly created "pin" in its mounting hole, then push the console in final resting place and put other screws in.

Great idea. That bolt is a real PITA.

Apocolips when I took out my console the other day I marked the orientation of the switch so I'd know which way to put it back in so I'll look tomorrow and let you know which way it goes. It's a 68 and probably the same switch.
7T1vette great idea, that bolt is a pain!

I don't believe the UP/DOWN switch directions ever changed. But any owner could reverse them, if he/she wanted. Up = UP; Down = DOWN always worked for me.
