More than likely you will have another vette in the stable.
Norman
Sorry to hear about your car. But fiberglass can be repaired better than your body. BTW I may be selling the complete body off my 73 at a very resonable price in a couple of months ( my friend wants the frame) I know right now you probably don't want to think about it but my email is smeasor@peoplepc.com let me know if it is something you might be interested in

I lost my 76 over the summer to a hit and run driver. It was totalled too.
After fighting with the insurance company, I finally got enough to replace her... with a 73.
I had a lot of emotional ties to that car since it was given to me for free by a very special person so it was not easy to let it go. I debated long and hard about rebuilding it from the frame up.
After talking to everyone here, I decided to take the money and look for a new one to start over with. (Hence phoenix)
At least you are not too badly hurt. Take some time before you throw in the towel on us, even if you aren't ready to get a new car.
Sorry to hear about the accident/bda news. I had to sell my first 73 Vette to help pay for the house we were building back in 79. I missed the Vette so I got a second 73, same color as the first Vette, last year. Don't drive it much except on nice days. It is much more fun than the F-150 or the wife's Caravan.
Time does heel wounds, so don't react too quickly.
Norman, thankfully you got out of that incident in pretty good shape. I also would say to put the car away for a short while before making a final decision. When you look at it with a different mind set, you may be able to see some real possibilities. I am sure that right now, you are extremely depressed about the whole mess. I know I would be. Give it a few days or weeks. Settle your emotions down, then look at the car again. As much as I would like to say "I'll take some of those parts off your hands", I won't do that. I would encourage you to try to get the car back on the road.
Glad your OK, I hate to hear things like this, especially to cars that can be so personal to you as I know many of these vettes are to us. Deffinitly take some time to look over your options.
Glad to hear you werent seriously hurt or worse. The car can be replaced. If you do get another vette you will fall in love with it too. But this time youll have some insight so it could even be better. I understand the shock. Time will heal. Then take it froim there.
Sorry to hear that... Big bummer! But you're OK, and that's what counts. As others started above, take some time, cool down, and then carefully analize all the possibilities.
