Default '73 down and gone

Hey gang;
I lost my '73 last night on a wet slippery two lane stretch of road at 50 mph. ( A dog or racoon I couldn't tell ) freaked me I jerked the wheel and it was all over, the car spun out and it careened like a pin ball I hit things that I never knew exsisted bounced around and was totaly unable to do anything but wait for it to stop, I was not hurt, and no one else was around, All I got was a nose bleed. I was picking up parts for an hour. I had no belt on and was three minutes from home, ( that's a well known statistic ) wet road and leaves and too much brake and I lost it. The car is a total loss, both sides and both ends are caved and broken into pieces. I won't be going for another one, I'd rather remember the one I had and loved.

I will be leaving the forum I have no need to be here now, It would be a constant reminder of what I once had and lost. I wish all of you the best of everything, and I thank you for being there when I needed you and your advise, I will be parting it out, that's the only thing it's good for now. As soon as I can take a decent inventory I'll post it in bits and pieces or what ever I can get it into........off topic ? wanted/needed ? or what ever.....

So long and good luck to all of you.................
Norm' :)

norman, your insurance doesnt cover it??

why not get a cheap daily driver like a 76 or 77 ????

u can pick one up for ~5k or soo and work on it....

if i had a beutiful 73, id be really careful with it..

with my 76 beater (ok not an expensive paintjob or good bodywork....but mechanically its 100 %--everything new..) its a bit less worry/////

:)

hope u sticlk round..!!

I am sorry to hear of your accident, Norman. Wet leaves are almost as bad as freezing rain. And yes, what are those stats? X% of all accidents happen less than five minutes from home. But you came away with just a bloody nose and that certainly is a blessing! When you have had time to reflect on your situation, and insurance matters are sorted out, I do hope that you reconsider your decision to leave the world of Corvette ownership :yesnod:.

Sorry to hear about the accident. I am glad you were not too injured.

As for the car, it sounds like a good "project" car now. You can either go custom, high hp, or NCRS. Make it the way you want the Corvette to be.

Good luck.

Ok, somebody has to say it:

WEAR YOUR SEAT BELT!
WEAR YOUR SEAT BELT!
WEAR YOUR SEAT BELT!
WEAR YOUR SEAT BELT!
WEAR YOUR SEAT BELT!

People have DIED in simple accidents like these because of no seat belt! I'm glad you are okay, buckle up from now on :smash:

That sucks, Man... But I think 76 Red's right. Why not park it for a while and think about what you want to do.

Sorry to hear about the accident! :(

I have a strange feeling that after a while you'll suddenly feel the need to get a new vette. Your first one would understand. :yesnod:

Take some time away and see how you feel.

Just glad you're ok. :yesnod:

depending on how badly the frame is bent, or not....get in touch with Tony at Tony's Corvette shop in Gaithersburg Md....now maybe just maybe he can set up a deal for you.....either way....talk over all possibilitities....take pix with you so he can see damage....you know, working a deal is allways possible...who knows?? a body just might be around off a rusted out frame car....
I say this because it's a WHOLE lot cheaper to fix what you got than sell and buy another something or other....assuming your insurance doesn't get involved...IF they do...your screwed....

Norman,

Really glad to hear you are o.k. A vette is probably not the best car to be in during an accident. Especially when you don't have your seatbelt on. I can understand not wanting another vette. Maybe over time you will reconsider. Until then, good luck!

Regards,

Jim

As a 73 owner, I know she would want you to gone on with your life. If she can't be rebuilt than you sould get one to replace her. Mine would want me too.
Glade to here you are still here to talk about it with us, your friends, and you should get back in the saddle again. Long live her memory :blueangel: she's in a better place now.

Glad your OK Norm. Right now, I'd just sit on it 'till a bit of time goes by. It'll give you some options as you talk to other folks and maybe if you sell, you'll find a way to sell it in one piece. I've parted out cars before, and it's a major pain. Good luck, and may there be other cool cars in your future!
