I was wondering if an A.I.R. pump could be hooked up backwards to become a vacuum pump?
I am running a larger than stock cam, which lowers my vacuum. With my '81 Computer Command Control, I think sometimes the vacuum is lower than the computer likes. Years ago I took the smog pump off and put it into a box. I was wondering if I re-installed it, vented the pump output and fabricated tubing to hook up the pump intake to the intake manifold vacuum nipple if it might be a viable way to increase vacuum. What do you think? God bless, Sensei
It would probably help. I toyed with the idea of using an LT1 electric smog pump like that to suck air out of the system to help with vacuum but I never tried it. I ended up installing the Hydrobooster, and plan to go to fixed headlights.
