Default Astrovent ?

Somewhere along the way someone has removed the drain tubes and fittings from the boxes in the rear deck. They did go as far as to duct tape one from below and stick a plastic cap plug in the other so that it holds water. I've checked a couple of catalogs and can find the tubes but not the pieces that they attach to at the box. Does anyone know of a source for these or have you modified yours? I was considering using a NPT to barb fitting if I can make the profile low enough to drain the box without letting water back into the rear compartment thru the vent door.

I just looked at the box on my 69 and it appears the box ends have a nipple as part of its formation. The hose appears to slip over this nipple end and secured with a hose clamp. The other end of the hose leads to a plate that opens and drains to the wheel wells. This end is also secured with a hose clamp. I have seen these plates in one of the catalogs, so they are available. My box is easily seen, so if I can take a better look for you just ask.

Thanks for checking. It's the nipple/box exit hardware that is missing. There is a 1 1/8" hole per side that needs something to connect to. After getting the vent doors open from the inside it appears I can get a brass or plastic fitting to modify it to once again accept a hose connection. I'm headed to the hardware store after lunch to look for options.

I don't suppose you know if you can push the hinge pins out of the lower vent door? On my '70 the outter ends have a small retainer stub that you can bend over to access the pin but so far I can't budge it. I'd like to remove the doors to replace just the door sear gasket without having to drill out the rivets and remove the entire assembly.

It is my Vette. Thanks for the compliments.

I took the photo in Glacier National Park on what is known as the "Going to the Sun" road in October a couple of years back. It's only about 30 miles from my house and a beautiful drive. I use it as my screen saver. If you're interested in a copy I can try to attach a jpeg in a PM to you, or PM me your email address.

PS-
Thanks for the info on Doc Rebuild too, I'll give them a try.

Try Dr Rebuild, but I believe that only coupe parts are available, vert parts are not.
