I have Firestone Firehawks on my 78 Vette now, but I'm wondering what kind of tires other vette owners use. I thinking of switching to a lower profile tire this spring and looking for some suggestions for a replacement.
BF Goodrich Radial T/A's. Either 245/60 or 255/60 depending on your taste. Pretty good value compared to Goodyear's. 255's should work on the 78 without rubbing.
I use BFG Comp TA VR4 235/60-15 26.1" in diameter. A bit lower profile than stock. V-rated @ 149mph. Only come in blackwall though. These tires do good for me on street and track.
BFG RADIAL T/A'S I run 275/60's out back and a lil different up front and during race time i run some 28-12.50-15 Mickey Thompson ET Streets but for your money and every day driving its hard to beat the BFG'S
Dunlop SP SPORT 8000's, 245/50/15, been VERY happy with these tires, perform AWESOME. I'm getting Nitto 555 next 245/40/17's :)
245/50/15 !! this is a very small tire
Some say that 265/50/15 looks too small on a vette and doesn´t fill the fender well.
Would be interested in a picture of your car, hmmm maybe you´ve a homepage
I have 265-50-15 on the front with 3 1/2 offset rims without any problems and 305-50-15 BFG TA radials on the back. The back required knotched trailing arms and a slight modification of the fender lip. Cutting it back to half it's original thickness. Fills out the wheel well.
I picked up new 305s this fall for $85 CDN each.
I have 225-70-R15 Comp TAs on mine now but when I replace them I'm going with 245-60-R15 Comp TAs.
I had 255-60-R15 Comp TAs on my '78 Pace Car and the wheel wells were cut at the factory. I don't think I can fit those under the front of my '75 and I don't want to cut the wells down.
I have a new set of goodyear eagle II tires on my 79 and like them so far but have heard alot of people grumbling that they're not as good as they used to be.
