Default Shift mechanism modification

OK.....this could be a first. Has anyone modified a auto trans selector to convert from button on top of the **** to "pull up" type reverse lockout under the ****?

I am sure I could spend 8 hours removing and modifying the stock lever tube.....(cutting slot below **** and fabricating the pull up piece from raw stock) but maybe the type I want will install onto the base part....IE from some other model Vette or car.? Not sure if the twin "hook" type reverse lockout is a manual only thing...or was on some other cars with auto trans. A junkyard call maybe?

I always rest my right hand on the ****....and the button bugs me. This is probably a hint that I want to convert to manual ASAP !!!

Thanks!

Well.....I never noticed the button does not lock out reverse when moving from 3 or N. Duh. It is only a safety to prevent unintentional shifting out of park. Also...my pull up release idea would be tough to accomplish, since you push down to release...another duh. But, I think I can make a push down release piece for the left side of the shaft, protruding out an inch or so under the ****, just big enough to easily push down with your thumb. I found a plain black shift **** with no button....that was the easy part.
