Default T-Top Trim removal

Ok hopefully I can describe this without confusing the hell out of you.

71 C3 T-tops are off the car. I need to remove the interior trim that is attached to the T portion of the roof. i looked for screws but did'nt find any. I did'nt want to start yanking & break the trim.
Anyone know how to remove the interior trim from the T area.

Not sure how useful this will be, but I just pulled the interior T top trim off of my '77 - there were two slightly recessed screws/clips under the weatherstripping, and the rest of the trim was secured by velcro-like plastic clips that came loose with some attention from a small flat-head screwdriver.

I wasn't being too cautious, as my panels are shot and trim was rotting anyway, so you might want to canvas other opinions!

Tte T part was screwed on first and the other trim covers the screws. You must take off the visors then the center windshield trim to see the screws in front. The rear is the same way.

I just removed mine this weekend. This was for a 1972, I don't know if your's are different. there are 2 phillips head screws about 1/2 way between the front and back (one on each side). You might have to push the seal back a bit to reveal them. After that, there are 8 plastic clips; 2 front, 2 back and 2 on each side to ply apart. Note: they are only rivereted to a pressed cardbord, so, be gentle with them. After getting them off, I cleaned these clips with a toothbrush to remove the oils and dirt. They hold together better now that they are clean. I found putting them back together on a bench easier that installing them in the car. The alignment was better after several tries.

I think he is trying to take off the trim on the body not the T-Top.

Yes, it's the trim on the body.

I got the rear screws out as I had to remove the rear panels to replace the rear window weatherstripping.

i think that i worked the end of a thin flat screwdriver in from the side where the cutout is for the t-top bracket. i think that the push in fasteners are in about that area; hope memory serves . . .

Derby,
You've gotten good adivce so far. 2 screws in the front hidden by the trim above the windshield and 4 screws in the rear hidden by the trim over the rear window. UPC1, Sheet F17 in your AIM.
Regards,
Alan

Thanks Alan. I think I have enough input now. I'll search out those screws.

Thanks all.

I took mine off this summer...

There are two screws in the front as well as 4 in the rear. Spread along the center are two metal posts (look kind of like screws, bumpy but not threaded) that push into the center T (these are friction fit.). Take out the screws on both ends and pull it down.

If you need a pic. let me know and I will put on up.
